Books & Series
The books are numbered chronologically, so it's best to start with Book One, Wolf Laurel. Each subsequent novel carries Bruce McGowan's story forward across roughly 20 years of missions, so reading in order gives you the fullest picture — though each book also stands on its own.
No — Colonel Martin's standalone mystery novels are separate stories, each with its own setting and cast, ranging from 19th-century Charleston to 1950s Appalachia. The McGowan Collection is his dedicated counterterrorism thriller series featuring Bruce McGowan.
Bruce McGowan is a former Army Special Forces captain who went on to serve 20 years as an FBI Special Agent before becoming a Department of State counter-terrorist operative. Most of the series is set in Greenbrier County, West Virginia — a place Colonel Martin knows well, having graduated from a military school in the same area as his character.
